  • The city has a wealth of both professional and community theaters, such as the Unicorn, the KC Repertory Theater, and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, not to mention wonderful theater education programs.​

  • However, most Kansas Citians don’t know that the vibrant Kansas City theater scene is due mostly to one woman, Dr. Patricia McIlrath.​

  • Dr. Patricia McIlrath’s life was centered on Kansas City. Throughout her life, she worked to improve her hometown through the arts, leaving a legacy of creativity and professional theater.​
