One of the great attributes of Kansas City is the multitude of local theaters!

The city has a wealth of both professional and community theaters, such as the Unicorn, the KC Repertory Theater, and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, not to mention wonderful theater education programs.

However, most Kansas Citians don’t know that the vibrant Kansas City theater scene is due mostly to one woman, Dr. Patricia McIlrath.

Dr. Patricia McIlrath’s life was centered on Kansas City. Throughout her life, she worked to improve her hometown through the arts, leaving a legacy of creativity and professional theater.
