Measure 1 through 39 are three 13-measure sections that each feature a pair of two different major performing techniques in a fixed telescoped pattern, with the numbers of hits at 7+1, 5+3, 3+5, and 1+7, followed by a long tremolo note after each pair of rhythmic group.
The next 13-measure section has the same rhythmic structural design but sounds more active with 16th notes. The last 13 measures bring out two "olive-shaped" rhythmic patterns before a cadenza which reaches a climax at the end of the piece.
