I really dislike night! Early morning has always been my favorite time of day: a time of meditation before things get going. This music attempts to convey the quiet magic of these moments. -- Betsy Jolas
Morning Thoughts was commissioned by Zeltman Marimba Festival, Inc. through the special project ZMF New Music. Jean Geoffroy premiered Morning Thoughts on July 3, 2009 at Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin, and recorded the piece for the double-CD, Intermediate Masterworks for Marimba (Bridge Records), a collection of 24 concert pieces published in two volumes (C.F. Peters Corporation).
