Andrea Csollány studied Piano, Theory of Music and Aural Education at the Mannheim University of Music. She then went on to further studies in Piano and Composition; one of her teachers was Wolfgang Rihm. Andrea Csollány is intensely interested in the music of other cultures. Her compositions range from chamber music to film and choral music to pieces for larger ensembles and orchestras and has been performed in Germany and elsewhere. She has been commissioned with a variety of compositions and in 1997 was awarded the prize of the City of Mannheim for contemporary composition. Andrea Csollány lives and works in Mannheim as a composer, concert pianist, and teacher. She has taught Piano and Theory of Music at the State College of Music in Mannheim since 1986 and has given aural training at the University of Music in Mannheim since 1993. She also writes concert reviews for the daily newspaper "Mannheimer Morgen."
