"conSolar starts off like a gently sung lullaby accompanied by an obsessive E-- which I call the 'pulsating ison'-- to which a strong generative power is attributed. The first narration ('narrative-- semplice') is woven together of disjointed, varied motives. These broaden the range of expression which moves from calm, warm emotions to fast, confusing ones. The next section ('somewhat freer-- flowing-- un poco più vivo') leaves the main register and brings a cascade of playful downward movements which suggest in rhythmic freedom a semi-natural (interior) 'landscape with thin waterfalls'. In the middle section ('marcato-giusto') the 'pulsating ison' animates the deepest register and generates a sweeping rise up to a climax enlivened by 'tremolo' and 'arpeggiato' passages. Here, the emotional dominant changes from E to G ('=sol/solar=full sun/sunny'). A little while later the obsessive E emerges again. The parallel nature of the two 'pulsating isons' indicates the close connection between the two sharp/flat tonics. A relaxing space is now created in a symmetrical manner ('etwas freier-- rubato un poco di più') with flowing rises and falls which finally come to a halt in a G-E cadence symbolic of this music."
