Notes on back of the photo indicate that these three men were friends in Kiangsi (Jiangxi) where they worked as officers of the Fourth Army. Wang Liang was killed in action during Chiang Kai-shek's Fifth Campaign in Kiangsi in 1934.

• Excerpts from Snow's diary from his trip to Stalingrad, Russia
  Excerpts from one of the few physical diaries within the Snow collections, written during his trip to Stalingrad, Russia. Most of the pages in the diary are yellowed, stained with purple ink blots, and are fragile upon handling. These diaries have not yet been transcribed.
• Letter describing Snow's upcoming trip to Shansi (Shaanxi) and Shensi province, China
  Snow's correspondence to Mr. L. M. MacBride, Foreign Editor of the Daily Herald in London, discussing his upcoming trip to Shansi (Shaanxi) and Shensi province of China. Snow mentions a possibility of entering the Red districts within these regions and becomes the first foreign journalist to interview the leaders of the Red Army, including Mao Tse-tung (Mao Zedong).
